Convert PDF — common questions

How do I convert a PDF to Word on my iPhone?

Open PDF Converter, pick a PDF, choose Word and tap Convert. The Word file is saved in the app, where you can preview it, rename it or share it by email, Messages or AirDrop.

Can I convert a PDF to Excel?

Yes. The Excel and CSV formats pull out the tables in your PDF, so they work best on PDFs that contain real tables. If a PDF has no tables, the app tells you.

Which formats can I convert a PDF to?

14 formats: Word, Rich Text, Plain Text, Markdown, Excel, CSV, PowerPoint, PNG, JPG, WebP, SVG, TIFF, HTML and PDF/A.

Can I convert a scanned PDF?

Yes. Premium adds OCR, which recognises the text in scanned pages so the converted Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Rich Text, Plain Text, CSV or HTML file contains real text instead of pictures.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

Yes, with Premium. Enter the PDF’s password, which is checked on your device first, and convert it as usual.

How much does PDF Converter cost?

You can install the app from the App Store and try it with a few conversions at no cost. Premium, an optional subscription managed through your Apple ID, adds unlimited conversions, OCR for scanned PDFs and support for password-protected PDFs.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

Conversion happens on our servers, so your PDF is sent over an encrypted connection and deleted as soon as the conversion finishes. We don’t read or keep it, and converted files are saved only on your device.

Where are my converted files saved?

In the Files tab inside the app, on your device only. You can search, preview, rename, share or delete them. Deleting the app removes them.

Why did I get a ZIP when converting to JPG?

Image formats create one image per page. When a PDF has more than one page, the images arrive together in a single ZIP. TIFF is the exception and stays as one multi-page file.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes. PDF Converter runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17.0 or later.
